Tofu60 Redux — the modernization of a classic

The original Tofu60 was born in 2017 and has since sold over 40,000 units — for many custom keyboard enthusiasts it was their first custom mechanical build and thus their entry into the hobby. With the Tofu60 Redux, KBDfans brings the classic back — subtly modernized, with refined details, but without losing the character that made the original. A case-only product for everyone who wants to assemble their custom 60% build with full control over PCB, plate, switches, and keycaps.

What's changed compared to the Tofu60 1.0?

The Tofu60 Redux is more than just a re-release — KBDfans implemented four key improvements:

• Sandblasted brass weight internal — the optional brass weight bar is now placed inside the case, noticeably increasing total weight and improving the acoustic profile.
• Long-strip rubber feet instead of the previous round rubber feet — providing significantly better stability and more even pressure distribution.
• Two detachable gold standoffs in the middle and bottom of the case interior — for additional PCB stability, depending on the build.
• Adjustable USB port as slider — perhaps the most important upgrade: the Tofu60 Redux has a movable USB port cutout that adapts exactly to your PCB's position. This solves the old problem that GH60 and Wooting 60HE PCBs have slightly different USB port positions (~1 mm deviation).

Tray-mount construction

The Tofu60 Redux uses a classic tray-mount structure — the PCB is screwed directly into the bottom case via standoffs. This is the original, proven custom keyboard mounting method, known for a precise, firm typing feel with a clear sound profile. Tray mount is especially suited for classic builds and is particularly popular in Hall-Effect gaming setups where you need a stable, vibration-resistant platform.

Over 20 color variants — from classic to statement

The Tofu60 Redux is available in an impressive color variety — from classic workshop looks to bold statement colors:

• Anodized aluminum: Black, Dark Blue, Silver, Gray, Green, Maroon, Dark Purple, Grass Green, Mocha
• E-coated aluminum: White, Orange, Purple, Red, Meteorite Gray, Pink, Baby Blue, Azure, Light Pink, Moon, Lemon
• Specials: Peacock Blue, Champagne
• Acrylic variants: Standard Acrylic (matte sandblasted) and Raw Acrylic (CNC marks visible, industrial look without anodizing)

The difference between anodizing and e-coating: anodized surfaces have the classic, slightly metallic character, while e-coating delivers a more uniform, fuller color result — especially with bold colors like Pink, Orange, or Lemon.

Optional brass weight bar

When ordering, you can choose whether you want the Tofu60 Redux with or without brass weight bar:

• Without brass weight bar: approx. 0.8 kg (aluminum case) — the classic Tofu build, light and mobile
• With brass weight bar: approx. 1.08 kg (aluminum case) — the premium variant with more substantial typing feel, fuller sound, and more stable footing

The weight bar is made from sandblasted brass and is installed internally — so it's not visible from the outside, but it noticeably influences typing feel and acoustics. The acrylic variants are significantly lighter at approx. 0.4 kg.

Acrylic variant with translucent appearance

The acrylic versions offer a completely different appearance from the aluminum variants — translucent, with characteristic visual depth. The Raw Acrylic variant is a special take: the case is only CNC machined, not sandblasted or anodized. The result is visible machining traces and CNC tool marks — an industrial, lustrous look for everyone who appreciates the "as-machined" aesthetic.

What else you should know

• Typing angle: 7° — ergonomically thought through for long writing sessions
• USB blocker included — in case you need to customize the USB position
• Foam pads included — for individual sound tuning
• Long-strip rubber feet for stable footing
• Important: with the Wooting 60HE V2 using the original silicone barebone, you should not install the two gold standoffs — they don't fit with the silicone structure. Without standoffs, the barebone fits perfectly in the case.

Note on aluminum craftsmanship

With anodized and coated aluminum keyboards, minor cosmetic variations can occur — especially in the case interior, slight coating inconsistencies in the inner corners are normal due to the Faraday cage phenomenon and not grounds for warranty claims. The exterior surfaces are processed with the highest care. If you need a perfectly uniform interior finish, the acrylic variants are the better choice.
