Keyboard accessories: lube, stabs, tools and transport

Accessories are everything around your custom keyboard that is not the keyboard, switch or keycap itself. This is where you find the parts to build, tune, maintain and safely transport a board. If you are looking for keyboard accessories for a specific step, the sections below help you narrow it down.

For building and tuning

For the build you need lubricants, stabilizers and, depending on your plan, switch springs, switch films or solder hot-swap sockets to retrofit a solder PCB. Stabs and lube each have their own category: stabilizers and lubricants. Films only make sense if a switch shows play between the housing halves in the wobble test.

Tools

For keycap changes and switch swaps, a keycap puller and a switch puller are enough. For lubing and filming you add a switch opener, lube station, brush and tweezers, and a suitable screwdriver once you open the board. Pullers with a large contact area are gentler on keycaps than models that only grip at points. All tools are collected under tools.

Transport and storage

For keyboards there is a padded canvas bag, a wrapper cloth that doubles as a work surface, and an aluminium stand. With the bag, the inner dimensions count, not the percentage label: measure your board including keycaps. You store keycaps in storage trays and switches in a box for up to 110 MX-style switches. According to the product text, the KAP trays do not fit OEM, KAT, SA, MT3, OSA, XDA and Cherry R5 profiles. The guide keycap profiles explains the difference.

Cables and gift cards

USB cables for keyboards are in the cables category. If you want to give someone a present without picking switches or keycaps, there is the MonacoKeys gift card. In-stock items ship from Germany within one working day.
