Low profile keyboard: flat mechanical keyboards
A low profile keyboard is noticeably flatter than a classic mechanical one. That gives a lower hand position and a slim profile on your desk. A low profile mechanical keyboard can also be fitted with flat switches and keycaps.
Which boards we carry
- IQUNIX Magi75 and Magi96: 75% and 96% keyboards in CNC aluminium with tri-mode connectivity and a hot-swap PCB.
- Keychron B6 Pro: 100% ultra slim, with a scissor mechanism instead of switches, ISO-DE, 5.2 mm front height, wireless.
- Bullet Train: a 40% custom board in V4N4G0N layout with Gateron KS-33 low profile switches, gasket mounting, wired or wireless.
Choosing a size
Height and size are independent. Do you need a numpad and arrow keys, or is a compact layout enough? The guide keyboard sizes and layouts explains the differences.
Switches and keycaps
Low profile boards use flat switches that are not compatible with MX switches. Matching switches are under low profile switches, flat keycaps under low profile keycaps. If you put regular keycaps on, the keyboard gets tall again, and on flat cases caps can hit the frame.
Questions before you buy
When swapping switches, always check your exact keyboard. Not every flat keyboard uses the same standard, and the Keychron B6 Pro has no swappable switches. Wireless models like the Magi series work well on the desk and on the go.
