Keychron B6 Pro — the better Magic Keyboard?

Why B6 Pro instead of Apple Magic Keyboard?

The Magic Keyboard is undoubtedly a solid companion for Mac users — but it has clear weaknesses. The B6 Pro addresses exactly these:

  • Multi-device capable: Connects to up to 3 devices simultaneously via Bluetooth — switch between Mac, Windows PC, tablet, or smartphone with a keystroke. Magic Keyboard: only 1 device.
  • 2.4 GHz wireless: The B6 Pro additionally features a 2.4 GHz USB receiver with 1000 Hz polling rate — significantly lower latency than Bluetooth, ideal for office setups or fast typing. Magic Keyboard: Bluetooth only.
  • 1200-hour battery life: About 8 months at 5 hours of daily use. Magic Keyboard: significantly shorter.
  • Full DE-ISO layout: With all umlauts, ß, and the proper enter key — no workaround, no compromises.
  • Customizable via ZMK / Keychron Launcher: Remap any key, record macros, set up layers — directly in the browser. Magic Keyboard: not possible without third-party software.
  • Mac & Windows toggle: Switch directly on the case — function and multimedia keys adapt automatically.

Ultra-slim with only 5.2 mm front height

The B6 Pro is one of the slimmest wireless keyboards in its class: 5.2 mm front height, 14.5 mm rear, a typing angle of 3.2°. The slim profile ensures an ergonomically relaxed hand position — a separate wrist rest is unnecessary. With dimensions of 429 × 130 mm and a weight of just 623 g, it fits in any laptop bag and is perfect for mobile workflows.

Scissor-switch mechanism with concave keycaps

Inside works a modern scissor-switch mechanism that delivers a precise, quiet, and fatigue-free typing feel — comparable to the best laptop keyboards offer, only more stable and with better feedback. The concave keycaps are shaped so your fingertips naturally land in the center of each key — reducing typos and improving typing speed over long sessions.

Three connection types for every workflow

The B6 Pro supports three connection types and can remember up to three devices simultaneously:

  • USB-C wired (1000 Hz polling rate) — for the most stable connection at your main workstation
  • 2.4 GHz wireless via included dongle (1000 Hz polling rate) — wire-free with minimal latency
  • Bluetooth 5.2 (90 Hz polling rate) — for tablet, smartphone, or second-screen setup, up to 3 devices paired in parallel

The keyboard is compatible with macOS, iOS, Windows, Android, and Linux. The Mac/Windows toggle on the case automatically adapts function and multimedia keys to your system.

1200-hour battery life — about 8 months

With an 800 mAh Li-polymer battery, the B6 Pro delivers up to 1200 hours of runtime in Bluetooth mode — at average usage of 5 hours per day, that's roughly 8 months without recharging. If the battery does run out, you can simply continue using the keyboard via USB-C cable — no forced charging stop. Full charging takes only about 2.5 hours.

Customizable via ZMK & Keychron Launcher

The B6 Pro uses ZMK firmware and is fully configurable via the browser-based Keychron Launcher. You can:

  • Remap every key individually
  • Record macros and assign them to keys
  • Set up multi-layer configurations
  • Define shortcut combinations for your workflow

All directly in the browser — no driver installation, no proprietary software.

Practical details for everyday use

The package includes a silicone protective cover that protects your keyboard from dust, crumbs, and splashes — ideal if you eat at your desk or don't use the keyboard for a while. Also in the included accessory set: a USB-C cable, a USB-A to USB-C adapter for devices without USB-C ports, and the 2.4 GHz USB receiver.

Full 100% layout with numpad

The B6 Pro offers a full 100% layout with 109 keys in the DE-ISO layout — complete main section, F-row, navigation cluster, and a full numpad. Additionally, it offers 12 dedicated multimedia keys for volume, playback control, and quick access. Anyone who regularly enters numbers, programs, or works with spreadsheets gets the ideal balance of functional range and slim profile with the B6 Pro.

Important to know

The B6 Pro is a scissor-switch membrane keyboard — not a mechanical keyboard. This is intentional: scissor switches are quieter, slimmer, and deliver a typing feel many prefer for office workloads. The switches are not hot-swappable; if you prefer classic mechanical typing feel, our mechanical keyboards are the better choice. The B6 Pro also has no backlighting — a deliberate compromise in favor of the enormous battery life.

Who is the Keychron B6 Pro for?

  • Office and home office users looking for a quiet, ergonomic typing feel with long battery life
  • Multi-device power users who switch between Mac, Windows PC, and tablet
  • Commuters and travelers who want to slip a full-size keyboard into their notebook sleeve
  • Magic Keyboard switchers who want more functional range, ISO layout, and longer battery without giving up the ultra-slim typing feel
  • Mac users who value a full DE-ISO layout with numpad — something Apple itself only offers in limited form
