Gateron switches: series and types at a glance

Gateron makes switches for almost every taste. To help you find the right series, here is an overview by type and use.

Linear, tactile, clicky and silent

Among the linear switches you will find, for example, the Smoothie and Oil King lines and the Baby Raccoon 2.0. Tactile models include Quinn, Type R or Baby Kangaroo 2.0, and clicky fans can pick Harmonic or Melodic. If you want it quiet, choose a silent version such as Pink Smoothie or Oil King Pink.

Factory-lubed

Gateron advertises factory pre-lubrication for its lines, so many switches run smoothly right away. How sound and typing feel differ is described in the product texts; spring forces are listed in the specifications. That lets you compare lines like Smoothie and Oil King directly instead of ordering by gut feeling.

Hall effect and low profile

The Jade line includes magnetic Hall effect switches for rapid trigger and adjustable actuation points. With the KS-33 series, Gateron is also our maker of low profile switches. For Hall effect and low profile models, check first that your keyboard supports them, because they do not fit every keyboard. Hall effect switches need a keyboard with a matching sensor PCB, low profile switches a low profile layout with matching keycaps.
