Zwei AEBoards Naevies EC Switches in Schwarz, einer offen mit konischer Feder

AEBoards

AEBoards makes switches with a rubber dome instead of a spring: Naevies EC bring a Topre-like feel to the MX format, Raeds HE combine the dome with Hall effect sensing. There are also replacement domes for a lighter or heavier feel, plus the Staebies stabilizers. More on the topic in EC / Topre.

AEBoards: EC and Hall effect switches with rubber domes

With AEBoards, it isn't a spring that pushes back like on classic MX switches but a silicone dome. It collapses noticeably as you press and sounds muted and "thocky" – similar to Topre.

Naevies EC or Raeds HE?

  • Naevies EC: electro-capacitive switches in MX format (14 × 14 mm, MX stem). MX keycaps and MX stabilizers fit, but you need an EC PCB – they don't work on regular MX hot-swap PCBs. Available with 45 g and 55 g domes.
  • Raeds HE: the same dome idea with magnetic sensing for Hall effect keyboards. They're built for the Wooting standard; calibrate them in the software after installing. The RGB version has a clear housing and a translucent dome.

Swapping domes

The 60g Purple Linear Domes make the feel heavier, the 55g Teal Tactile Domes make it clearly more tactile. The domes fit Naevies EC and Raeds HE, but not Topre or other EC systems.

Staebies V2

Staebies are PCB-mounted screw-in stabilizers – quiet and rattle-free. More stabilizers are in stabilizers. For magnetic switches, see our guide Hall effect & rapid trigger.
