Magnetic keyboard: hall effect with rapid trigger
A magnetic keyboard measures key position with hall sensors instead of contacts. That lets you set the actuation point of every key yourself and use rapid trigger. It pays off most in gaming but works for typing too.
Rapid trigger and actuation point
A rapid trigger keyboard actuates as soon as you press a key down and resets at the slightest movement back up. You can re-actuate the key anywhere along its travel. For typing, the adjustable actuation point is more useful: set it deeper and you avoid accidental presses. More in the guide hall effect and rapid trigger.
Which boards we carry
The Neo65 Sonic HE+ by Qwertykeys is a 65% keyboard with rapid trigger, SOCD and dynamic keystroke, 8000 Hz polling rate and available in German ISO layout. The Typface Kafka Hall Effect comes fully built with a Venom65 HE PCB, also at 8000 Hz. The KBDFans Tofu60 3.0 is also available with an HE PCB. For help with size, see the guide keyboard sizes and layouts.
Swapping switches
An HE keyboard only accepts magnetic switches; regular MX switches do not work. Our hall effect switches are built for the Wooting standard. Keychron HE boards, on the other hand, only take Keychron's own double-rail magnetic switches. After swapping, calibrate in the keyboard's software. HE switches also need a fixed-layout plate so they do not wobble. To try them out there is the MonacoKeys Hall Effect Switch Tester.
