Kafka Hall Effect — subtle design, radical performance

The Typface Kafka is a 65% custom keyboard combining two worlds in one mission: uncompromising technology and an exceptionally clear design language. On this page, you'll find the Hall-Effect variant — fully pre-assembled, with all the premium materials of the MX variant, but with a modern, ultra-fast Hall-Effect PCB for maximum responsiveness. Unbox, turn on, type — no modding work required.

Venom65 HE — Hall Effect with RISC-V32 architecture

The Hall-Effect variant of the Kafka is built around the Venom65 HE PCB — a modern Hall-Effect platform with RISC-V32 architecture delivering uncompromising performance:

  • 8,000 Hz polling rate — extremely high sampling frequency for minimal latency
  • 14,000 Hz scan rate per key — every single keystroke is captured with high precision
  • 0.16 ms latency — practically no perceived delay, ideal for competitive gaming
  • 0.1 mm actuation sensitivity — extremely precise activation, adjustable per key
  • Rapid Trigger — the key becomes immediately re-activatable upon release, without needing to fully return
  • Analog input capabilities — variable input values depending on key position, perfect for games with analog controls or creative applications

Hall-Effect technology uses magnetic sensors instead of mechanical contacts — this eliminates switch wear, allows software-side adjustment of the actuation point, and offers the performance benefits modern gaming setups are optimized for.

Factory pre-installed Hall-Effect switches

The Kafka HE comes with high-quality Hall-Effect switches of your choice. We offer the following switch options:

  • GEON Raw HE — the "standard" Hall-Effect switch from GEON: precise actuation point, clean bottom-out, balanced sound character. Ideal for everyone seeking the full Hall-Effect experience without specific tuning accents.
  • UR Studio Ultra Ice HE — premium switch from UR Studio: optimized switch construction for a particularly clean, precise typing feel with characteristic acoustics. A choice for sound enthusiasts with high standards.

Premium materials — aluminum, brass, and real wood

The Kafka HE shares its material philosophy with the MX variant:

  • CNC-machined 6061 aluminum for the case — precise craftsmanship, anodized surfaces with timeless character
  • Solid C360 brass bottom weight — provides desk stability and a deeper, fuller sound
  • Real walnut wood accent — sealed with water-based urethane

Two color variants

We offer the Kafka HE in the following color variants:

  • Black with walnut accent — the timeless, dark classic
  • Warm Grey with walnut accent — a warm, neutral grey tone that harmonizes elegantly with the natural walnut wood

White-on-Black ABS doubleshot keycaps

Factory pre-installed are white-on-black ABS doubleshot keycaps — classics with white legends on black bodies. The doubleshot manufacturing process anchors the legend physically in the material so it never fades. ABS has a slightly smoother, slightly glossier feel with a crisper sound profile — pairing excellently with the clean, focused design language of the Kafka.

Dual mounting system — gasket isolation or O-ring

The HE variant also offers the dual mounting system with both mounting options included:

  • Gasket isolation — dampened, controlled, bassy
  • O-ring mount — bouncy, lively, higher sound character

The package includes 5 plate gaskets in 60A hardness as well as 1 O-ring in 50A hardness — you can swap between the two typing characters to suit your preference.

Clear design language — no RGB distraction

The Kafka deliberately omits RGB lighting. The design philosophy targets the essentials: form, material, and sound. A reduced, focused custom keyboard for users seeking a thoughtful, durable tool — even though the HE performance under the hood is uncompromising.

Note on material variation

Since the Kafka uses real natural materials, small natural variations are to be expected:

  • Walnut wood can vary in grain, color, and texture — small knots, mineral streaks, or natural markings may occur
  • Brass can naturally oxidize over time — a protective coating is applied; light oxidation during transport or use is still possible and considered normal

These natural characteristics underline the handcrafted character of the Kafka and are not defects.

Who is the Kafka HE for?

  • Hall-Effect gamers looking for a premium custom board with modern magnetic switch performance — Rapid Trigger, adjustable actuation point, and analog input
  • Designer enthusiasts who appreciate the interplay of aluminum, brass, and real wood
  • Custom keyboard lovers who want the looks and build quality of a high-end build — without the modding effort
  • Heavy typists & coders who appreciate the compact 65% layout with arrow keys and the additional column on the right
  • Sound enthusiasts who want to experience two distinctly different sound characters with gasket and O-ring mount
  • Minimalists looking for an RGB-free, focused custom keyboard — with uncompromising performance under the hood

Note: The Kafka HE is a fully pre-assembled keyboard. Switches and keycaps are factory pre-installed. Hall-Effect switches are not hot-swappable with classic MX switches — the keyboard is designed for Hall-Effect switches.
