🎛️ Seven switch worlds in one keyboard

What truly makes the Seal80 unique is its uncompromising switch compatibility. Most custom keyboards support only Cherry MX. Some additionally Topre EC. The Seal80 supports seven different switch platforms — a diversity that practically doesn't exist in the custom keyboard market:

  • Cherry MX — the modern standard, in solder or hot-swap variant
  • Alps SKCM / SKCL — the legendary Japanese switch standard of the 80s and 90s, beloved for its unique typing feel in keyboards like the Apple Extended Keyboard II or Dell AT101
  • Alps SKCP — smaller, less common Alps variant
  • SMK 2nd Gen — Japanese vintage switch, collector's classic
  • Omron B3G — Japanese industrial switch with characteristic typing feel
  • NMB Hi-Tek 725 ("Space Invaders") — the famous Japanese switch from the 80s, named after its unmistakable stem shape that resembles the arcade game. Extremely rare and highly sought-after by collectors.
  • Topre EC — Japanese electrostatic capacitive switches, known from HHKB and Realforce keyboards, with the characteristic soft, dome-like "thock" sound

Additionally, the Seal80 is H87 PCB compatible — you can also use alternative PCBs like the Venom80 for Hall-Effect switches, in case you want to ride the modern magnetic switch trend. This makes the Seal80 a platform for the entire history of mechanical keyboard switches — from 1980s vintage to 2026 Hall-Effect.

🧱 Refined force-break mounting system

SENSY has taken the acclaimed damping concept of the Smoke65 into a new dimension: no midframe, three selectable damping hardness levels. The force-break mounting system combines a top mount with a buffer strip and a blocker system that mediates between plate and case. Instead of mounting the plate hard against the aluminum or PC case, a softer material sits between plate and case — the result is a noticeably more pleasant typing feel with a controlled, clean sound profile without unnecessary bulkiness.

Three blocker hardness levels are all included in the package, and you can swap them based on preference:

  • Silicone 70A — softest option, maximum bounce, most dampened sound
  • Silicone 90A — balanced middle ground between softness and stability
  • TPU 98A — firmest option, precise bottom-out with clear sound

The buffer strip concept additionally reduces front height (16.5 mm) and integrates a force-break function directly into the mounting structure — an engineering solution that lifts the typing feel to a level you'd otherwise only find in significantly more expensive boards.

Buffer material — ABS+TPU or copper

The buffer strips themselves come in two variants:

  • ABS+TPU buffer — standard for aluminum cases, balanced, clear sound profile
  • Copper buffer — exclusive to polycarbonate cases, adds mass and acoustic density, delivers a deeper, fuller sound

🏛️ Aluminum or polycarbonate — two character worlds

We offer the Seal80 in both case materials, each with all available buffer and color options:

  • Aluminum case — CNC machined, in 220-mesh anodized, spray anodized, or e-coating finish. Substantial weight, clear sound profile, classic premium look.

Available colors (anodized with ABS+TPU buffer): Silver, Red, Orange, Green, Ching, Blue, Purple, Brown. E-coated: Vintage Grey and Sparkle Black.

  • Polycarbonate case — modern, soft lines with a characteristic translucent appearance. Lets internal RGB shimmer (if present) and delivers a noticeably different acoustic profile from aluminum. Available with ABS+TPU buffer or the exclusive copper buffer.

Plate options for every sound

During configuration, you can choose from various plate materials and colors that significantly influence typing feel:

  • Aluminum plate (1.5 mm) in black or silver — classic, precise, higher tonal profile
  • PEI plate (4 mm) in ANSI or ISO — balanced, with characteristic warm sound
  • PC ABS plate (4 mm) in black, ANSI or ISO — softer, bouncier feel with dampened sound

Note: with the Topre EC PCB and Alps/SMK/Omron/Hi-Tek PCBs, no plate is included by default — but SENSY provides plate files you can use to have a compatible plate manufactured later.

Bottom weight options for individual character

The bottom weight also comes with sophisticated choices:

  • Brass / sandblasted — classic warm gold tone with fine texture
  • Brass / marble patina — hand-aged patina finish with unique marbling character
  • Copper raw — untreated copper that develops its own patina over time
  • Stainless steel CNC PVD — in raw, black, or gold, each with precise CNC texture

📐 ANSI & ISO multilayout

The Seal80 supports both ANSI and ISO layouts — including the typical ISO variations for German, European, and Nordic markets. When ordering, you choose the matching plate layout (ANSI or ISO) — the PCB itself is multilayout capable. A standard A87 TKL layout with 7U spacebar ensures maximum keycap compatibility.

VIAL support for Cherry MX PCBs

The Cherry MX PCBs (both solder and hot-swap) are VIAL compatible — you can remap any key, record macros, and set up layers, all directly in the browser via the open-source software VIAL. With the vintage switch PCBs (Alps, SMK, Omron, Hi-Tek), programming is handled via the respective matching firmware — SENSY provides corresponding configurations.

📏 Ergonomic profile & dimensions

With a front height of 16.5 mm (effective keycap height 21.8 mm) and a typing angle of , the Seal80 is ergonomically thought through — the sloped form noticeably relieves wrist strain. The narrow 7.9 mm front bezel width (incl. chamfer) ensures a modern, slim appearance despite the substantial build.

  • Dimensions: 356.2 × 137.2 × 38.5 mm
  • Weight: approx. 2.5–2.8 kg (depending on bottom weight option)
