Cherry MX Northern Light Switches

In the quiet, clear nights of the North, the Northern Lights illuminate the sky with an unparalleled elegance. This unique aesthetic inspired us to create the MX Northern Light Switch — a fusion of innovative design and exceptional quality. The MX Northern Light captivates with its distinctive color palette, evoking the serene and mesmerizing beauty of the Nordic Aurora. Yet, its true highlight lies in its outstanding performance.

The MX NORTHERN LIGHT is proof to CHERRY’s neverending commitment to strife for excellence. Created by a team of in-house switch enthusiasts, the MX NORTHERN LIGHT combines the best components of existing CHERRY switches and enhances them with some new tricks, like an extra polished top housing and the new blue bottom, making this our smoothest linear switch ever.

What a fine switch - my new favourite (semi)silent switch

Switch reviews are tricky because it all comes down to personal preference, so some background information might be helpful. My top three are Cherry MX "Vintage" Blacks (lubricated, filmed, and with a swapped spring), Nixies (lubricated, filmed, and with a swapped spring), and TTC Venus switches. Also, I don't like silent switches, but I need them in the office (my colleagues are sensitive to noise). I've tried many different silent switches, but they're either mushy, feel sluggish, or are quite loud (often the upstroke is the issue). My preferred silent switches used to be Durock Silent Dolphins, but they've now been replaced by Cherry MX Northern Lights. As usual, the stock Cherry experience is pretty mediocre. Lubricated and filmed, the Northern Lights start to shine. To my surprise, the springs are fine (I would normally replace Cherry springs with 18–22 mm, 2- or 3-stage springs[52.5 g; 58 g]) and the typing feel is crisp. Acoustically, these switches are rather quiet and on the poppy end of the spectrum. Overall, I'm very happy that Cherry made these switches and highly recommend them.

Many thanks to Monacokeys. As always, it's been a pleasure doing business with you. Keep up the good work!

Unlike any other Cherry Switch

Long time listener First Time buyer. I struggle to believe these are made by Cherry. They have none of the typical Cherry switch characteristics. Leagues ahead of other MX2A silent switches. Very usable out of the box. Great service for MK as well.
