Neo65 Cu – compact 65% custom with copper or brass bottom

The Neo65 Cu is Neo Studio's compact take on the Cu series: a 65% layout with a single blocker, built around a solid copper or brass bottom. It carries over the bezel proportions and rounded corners of the original Neo65 and pairs them with a new, curved bottom case. If you want a compact board that looks refined, feels substantial and sounds deep, this is a well-considered complete package.

Design

An ultra-slim side bezel keeps the look understated and lets the board blend into almost any setup. New is a layered waistline that harmonises with the brass or copper bottom: the curved bottom case softens the visual weight of the brass or copper and keeps the front profile slender and elegant despite the mass.

PVD stainless steel weight & compass logo

Instead of the aluminium battery compartment used on earlier models, the Neo65 Cu features a large, mirror-finished PVD stainless steel weight. It is more than decorative: the large surface area and higher density suppress vibrations more effectively for a more consistent typing sound. At the centre sits a compass-inspired logo that echoes the brand's visual language – the pointer matches the bottom case, while the four dots match the top case colour.

Structure & acoustics

To deliver a full, hollow-free sound, Neo Studio relies on several structural measures. A chamber isolation system in the bottom case fills the space beneath the PCB while leaving enough room for typing travel – reducing hollowness even without additional foam fillers. Rather than a ball-catch mechanism, which creates unavoidable metal-on-metal contact, the Neo65 Cu uses an internal locking structure: top and bottom case are screwed together with extra buffering around the screw holes, so case ping is nearly eliminated. Combined with the dense materials – copper or brass in the bottom, stainless steel in the weight – the result is a calm, controlled sound signature.

Dual-mounting: top mount & PCB gasket mount

The new structure allows both mounting styles in one board for the first time. The isolated top mount uses thick silicone gaskets around the mounting screws – preserving the slightly firmer feedback of a traditional top mount while reducing vibration and avoiding direct metal contact. Alternatively, the softer PCB gasket mount is available. The mounting points were tuned for the 65% layout over several rounds of prototyping so that keypresses stay consistent across all areas, including the edge keys.

PCB options

All three PCBs are VIA-compatible, 1.6mm thick (non-flex cut), support ANSI and ISO, offer NKRO and come without per-key RGB.

Note: the advanced ANY key feature is not supported in wireless mode.

The included plate adds further character to the sound: from firm and clacky to soft and thocky, the spectrum runs roughly from carbon fiber through aluminium and PC to PP. Choose your plate in the configurator.

Barebone note: The Neo65 Cu is a barebone kit. Case, PCB (of your choice), plate (of your choice) and PCB clip-in NeoStab stabilisers are included. Switches and keycaps are not included and must be purchased separately.
