PBTFans Thermal - Double-Shot ABS Keycap Set

PBTfans Thermal is the dark flip side of X-Ray — and the natural continuation of Matthew Encina's fascination with translucent tech aesthetics. Where X-Ray is bright and see-through, Thermal shifts to smoky black and muted grey translucency, letting light and shadow do the work. Designed by Matthew Encina (Mod Musings, Los Angeles).

At first glance the set reads almost monochrome — but under directional light, the legends and edges emerge from shadow and reflection, like a thermal image slowly resolving from the dark. Colorful gradient accents, inspired by heat-signature imagery, add deliberate highlights and give the moody look its unmistakable technical character.

Manufactured using the double-shot process from ABS — the legends are part of the cap and permanently abrasion-resistant. Cherry profile for ergonomic typing, ABS-typical crisp sound character. Shipped in a designed ABS tray with a matching cover. Manufactured by PBTfans. Compatible with all MX-style switches.

Important notes: The caps are semi-translucent — color tones can vary significantly depending on lighting and viewing angle. The cap base is opaque and not intended for per-key RGB shine-through. As a manufacturing constraint of the double-shot process, small visible holes may appear in the inner layer — these are minimized using Tamiya acrylic paint and are not defects but material-specific characteristics.
